Mill Street Brewpub

History of Mill Street

Longtime Calgarians will remember Mill Street Brewpub’s location as a late-night entertainment locale from its former life as a nightclub/live music venue for most of the past 30 or so years.

Opened in 2016, this brewpub is part of the Labatt owned Mill Street chain, which is now in four Canadian cities. Because of this, you are able to purchase not only unique beers made on site, but also selections from the other locations as well.

Craft Beers

There are usually more than a dozen beers on tap, including Mill Street’s core of Organic Lager, Tankhouse Ale, Cobblestone Nitro Stout, West Coast Style IPA, 100th Meridian Amber Lager, and Hopped and Confused Session Ale. The locally made beers constantly rotate and represent a wide variety of styles.

Brewery Atmosphere

Because the location is a former house (albeit with add-ons and renovations), there are many different areas to enjoy. Once you enter the building, there is a lively lounge with a bar and partially visible kitchen downstairs to the left, while to the right, up a set of stairs is a quieter dining room and bar, with even a secluded room at the back. If you go into the lounge, you will see the brew system straight ahead. Tours are offered for $10 and are often conducted by the brewers. There is also a second story, which has a more private dining space and its own bar. The kitchen serves a full menu, with starters, sandwiches, mains, and desserts. Mill Street has two patios, the main one being partially enclosed along the front facing 17th Avenue. It also has a separate mercantile space at the front, selling growlers, merchandise, and kegs.

Brewery Hours

They are open Monday 11:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Tuesday- Thursday 11:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m., Friday 11:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m., and Sunday 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Brunch is available until 2:00 p.m. on the weekend. Tasters, flights, pints, and growler fills are all available.

Brewery Location

Situated in an area within the First/Fourth Street and 17th Avenue restaurant scene, only blocks from the Stampede grounds, this heavily remodeled old house is now home to one of the city’s newest breweries.
