Head to this Squamish brewery, and for sure, you will have an unforgettable experience as you sample premium brews from some of the best liquid craftsmen in Canada. One of the best options that can be taken into account is Howe Sound Brewing.

About Howe Sound Brewing

This Sea to Sky brewery has been operational since 1996. For two decades, it became an indispensable name in the market for Squamish craft beer. The success story of the brewery is attributed to John Mitchell, known as one of the brains behind the first modern craft beer brewery in North America. Because of this, he was dubbed as the “Grandfather of Micro-Brewing in Canada.” He established Howe Sound Brewing along with Colleen Fenn, Dave Fenn, and Stephen Shard. He was the one who developed the first recipes of the brewery, which, until now, serve as the inspiration to its current brews.

Pushing for Eco-Friendly Brewing

To have a distinct advantage above others, this Squamish brewery creates their beer while highlighting their environmental responsibilities. With this, the production is geared towards creating high-quality beers while having minimal impacts on the environment. From re-using swing cap bottles to finding a way to recycle spent grains, this is an eco-friendly business. The spent ingredients, specifically the grains are donated to local communities, which are used as organic fertilisers.  They also have a program called Ales for Change, which seeks to create humanitarian projects that will allow the business to give back to the community.

Howe Sound has Wide Selection of Brews

This Squamish brewery serves a diverse selection of craft beers, including inventive recipes that make use of unique ingredients. They have brews that are available all throughout the year. One of the most popular is Garibaldi Honey Pale Ale, which has a refreshing taste and made using all-natural honey from Fraser Valley.

If you like your beer bitter, you should try their Devil’s Elbow IPA. This India Pale Ale is heavily hopped but perfectly balanced with malt for easy drinking.

Meanwhile, their Whitecap Wheat Ale is brewed using traditional Belgian techniques. It uses orange peel and coriander to have a refreshing taste. This is the perfect choice for anyone who is just starting to discover the wonderful world of craft beer.
