History

The Volcanic Hills Estate has put its mark on the West Kelowna Wineries map. This highly respected winery, which produces a variety of award-winning wine varieties, traces its roots to humble beginnings established by a Punjab immigrant. Mehtab Gidda would lay the foundation of what his children would later grow into a world renowned winery. Although the winery itself was established in 2010, some of the vineyards are almost four decades old. The winery which sits on the south-eastern slope of the Boucherie Mountain got its name from this dormant volcano. From the patio, visitors can get amazing views of the surrounding landscape.

Development

As one of the top Kelowna wineries, Volcanic Hills Estate Winery has experienced steady development. After the family started growing top quality grapes, they put in motion the necessary steps to building one of the best wineries in the area. Their 15,000 square foot winery is not only home to their wine producing operation, but also houses the largest wine tasting room in the region. Visitors can enjoy the award winning wines in the expansive tasting room, or go out on the patio and take in amazing views of the picturesque landscape. The location also home to the blue Saffron Restaurant; which is ran by highly established chef who has worked in a variety of world-class hotels, resorts, and restaurants.

Variety

The grapes grown on the winery’s vineyards are used in making a variety of wines including chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Rose, Zweigelt, Riesling, Gewuztraminer and Gamay Noir. Their medium bodied red wines named Eruption and Magma bear names inspired by the location. Being one of the few Kelowna wineries with restaurants, guests can enjoy their award winning wines paired with exquisite dishes during their visit for an even better experience.

The founders of Volcanic Hills Estate Winery believe in making distinct wines that capture the essence of the unique growing and production conditions.
